Planning Your Costa Rica Family Vacations

Have you ever thought about how to plan fun and extraordinary family vacations? While we may daydream about surprising our children with exciting and fun destinations and activities, the real story is that children are a bit difficult to travel with! They easily become tired, bored, and frustrated when they are removed from their day to day routines, and a worthwhile family vacation plan will take that into account.

When planning your family vacations, begin with the concept that children should have a fun interlude or break at least every two to three hours. If you're already at the hotel or resort, then the kids should already be enjoying hours of uninterrupted fun. But if you're driving or flying to get to your vacation destination, plan a little break every couple of hours to give the children time to exercise their energy and imaginations. These breaks can be as simple as stopping at an unusual restaurant for a relaxing meal or at a local park for some fresh air -- an activity the children will view as a chance to explore a new and interesting place!

The moral of this story is to visualize your family vacations from the viewpoint of your children and not just your own. The good news is that kids can be kept calm and happy in very quick and inexpensive ways when you use the gift of their natural curiosity. Then, upon arriving at your final vacation spot, everyone will be in a great mood to really enjoy the fun and activities of your chosen vacation spot.
